About the Getz/Click

Offered either as a 3 or 5-door hatchback, the Getz is a supermini that sold between the years 2002 and 2011.

Hyundai marketed the Getz globally and intended it to compete with the likes of the Mitsubishi Colt, Volkswagen Polo, Ford Fiesta, Toyota Yaris, Mazda 2, Suzuki Swift and the Honda Jazz.

Trim levels included the GSI, CDX and Sport in the UK and following Euro NCAPO scores, received a four out of five stars for adult safety. The following error codes are common in the Hyundai Getz:

• P0340 – This fault code shows that there is a problem with the camshaft position sensor A Circuit. Operators will usually look for a problem after seeing the check engine light. Symptoms of this issue include difficulty in starting the engine, a hesitation whilst running or poor acceleration when driving the vehicle. Usually, this problem is fixed after replacing the camshaft position sensor, if this does not solve the issue, then looking elsewhere to corded wires or a malfunctioning PCM could help. Depending upon the reason for the fault code showing, it could be serious and so a mechanic should be sought out to quickly determine the cause.
• P0420 – Showing poor catalyst system efficiency, this fault code usually means that the oxygen levels are outside of the required range set my the manufacturer. A code that illuminates the ‘check warning light,’ P0420 shows a faulty catalytic converter and this can be caused by anything from a damaged exhaust manifold to a fuel injector leak. Continuing to run the car with this code showing could eventually damage the catalytic converter irreparably which in turn will lead to expensive repairs.
• P0171 – This fault code means there is either too little fuel or too much oxygen in the exhaust system and can have been caused by a number of issues, for example, a vacuum leak, weak fuel pump, defective injectors or faulty oxygen sensors.
