About the Accent
The Accent is a subcompact car built by the South Korean car company, Hyundai.
Selling from 1994, the Accent has spanned several decades with first generations exported to a number of countries like Australia, Romania and the United Kingdom.
Built inside a number of factories, the Accent was assembled in South Korea, Turkey, China, Egypt, Venezuela, Botswana and Indonesia.
Available as either a 4-door sedan or a 3/5-door hatchback, the Accent proved extremely popular in the Australian market due to its low price point and reliability.
Just five years after its initial release, Hyundai brought out the second generation, these vehicles looked similar to the first but were slightly larger.
New engines meant lower noise emissions and vibrations with the Accent seeing its first diesel variant at this stage.
Fast forward to the latest generation, the Accent is in its fifth cycle and looks dramatically removed from the initial models.
A plethora of new technologies are now built into the Accent such as heated bucket seats, push-button start, keyless entry, Apple CarPlay with Android Audio, forward collision alert and a touchscreen infotainment system.
These later models saw some fierce competition from the likes of the Honda Civic, Mazda 3 Sedan, Kia Forte, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Jetta, Subaru WRX, Nissan Sentra, VW Golf, Honda Insight and the Chevrolet Bolt.
The Accent can show some specific fault codes:
- P0456 – A generic code, signals that there is a small leave in the evaporative system.
- P0326 – The knock sensor is producing a reference voltage that is not inside the desired range.
- P0300 – Simply pointing to a misfiring cylinder problem with the car.
- P0620 – A malfunction with the generator control circuit.
- P0171 – Either too little fuel or too much oxygen in the exhaust mix.
