About the Kamiq
The Kamiq is a subcompact crossover SUV created by the Czech car manufacturer Skoda.
Launched in 2019, the Kamiq was first unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show five months before it went on sale and takes its styling jointly from the likes of Karoq and Kodiaq.
Built upon the Volkswagen Group MQB A0 Platform, the Kamiq shares its underpinnings with the likes of the Audi A1, SEAT Arona, SEAT Ibiza, Skoda Scala, Skoda Fabia, Volkswagen Nivus, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen T-Cross and the Volkswagen Virtus.
There are five engine types available, two 1-liter and one 1.5-liter petrols, a 1-liter Petrol/CNG and a 1.6-liter diesel.
In terms of size, the Kamiq has a 2,651 mm wheelbase and is 1,793 mm wide with a tall roof. As one of the new Skodas, the Kamiq displays the word ‘SKODA’ as a badge on the back of the vehicle in the placement of the original Skoda symbol, the blue-winged arrow.
One neat little feature of the Kamiq is the hidden umbrellas in the driver’s doors, indicative of more premium manufacturers like Rolls-Royce.
The Kamiq can display some common fault codes, these are:
- P0394 – An incorrect voltage reading relating to the camshaft sensor, this is registered by the PCM.
- P0390 – The powertrain control module cannot register the camshaft position sensor.
- P0340 – n issue with the camshaft position sensor, this could mean that there is an issue with the wires to the sensor, or the sensor itself and a mechanic should be consulted to determine the exact cause.
- P0299 – An error code only relating to the turbocharged or supercharged vehicles, this shows an under-boost condition under operation.
- P0403 – A fault code showing that the engine exhaust gas recirculation EGR has registered an issue.
