About the Genesis GV70
Manufactured by the luxury division of the Japanese company Hyundai, the Genesis GV70 holds the industry code name JK1 and was launched in 2020.
The GV70 was the second sports utility vehicle to be released by the company following the successful reception of the GV80.
Design work was handled by Ki-Euk, a designer responsible for numerous patents like front bumpers, headlamps, rear combination lamps and total passenger cars, the GV70 is sold only as a five-door vehicle available as either a rear-wheel drive or a four-wheel drive.
A battery electric version became available shortly after the initial launch, referred to as the ‘eGV70,’ this car features a dual motor setup coupled with all-wheel drive.
Impressively, this model is capable of charging up to 80% in under 20 minutes by using a 350kW charger.
With good cargo space (503 liters in the boot) the Egv70 also has a 12.3-inch cluster allowing the driver to control most of the vehicle from just this point.
Following testing undertaken by the Insurance Institute for Highway Standards, the Genesis model received ‘Good’ scores for all major categories such as side impact, roof strength and head restraints.
For customers interested in electric vehicles of this type, there are a number of competitors to choose from currently on the market like the Kia EV6, Audi Q4 e-tron, BMW iX, Skoda Enyaq, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-e, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Peugeot e-2008 and the Audi e-tron.
