About the Córdoba

With a short production time of 17 years, the Cordoba was a car released by the Spanish automaker SEAT.

Available in several styles, the Cordoba was sold as either a coupe, estate or as the more commonly recognizable saloon.

Launching with the second and third generations of the SEAT Ibiza, the Cordoba was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the same year of sale.

Designed by the wildly successful car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro (the man responsible for a huge number of cars like the Alfa Romeo Canguro concept car, Aston Martin DB4 GT Bertone Jet, the BMW M1, BMW Nazca C2, Cadillac Sixty Special, Mazda Familia, Mazda Luce, Renault 21, Saab 600, Saab 9000, Seat Malaga and the Toyota Aristo), the Cordoba was built upon the Volkswagen Group A03.

Five engines were available ranging from 1.6-liter up to a 2-liter in displacement.

With a facelift in 1996, small changes were made to the styling including the front grille, these newer models were more expensive and slower due to the increased weight of the car.

A second generation was released in 2002, and unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. Now far less boxy, the Cordoba now shared its engine with Volkswagen Polo Mk4 and the Skoda Fabia Mk1.

Due to low sales, the Cordoba was withdrawn from the UK market, across Europe it is uncommon for saloon versions of hatchback cars to succeed, and the Cordoba did little to disprove this rule.

When the dashboard warning lights trigger, the errors codes illuminating these warnings could be:

• P0106 – the MAP circuit is registering a wrong output range creating a problem with engine performance.
• U017E – The is no communication coming from the seat belt pre-tensioner.
• P1602 – A lower voltage than required is caused by damaged batteries.
• P0299 – Only relating to the turbocharged and supercharged vehicles, this signals an under boost condition under operation.
• P2463 – A restriction of the filter diesel particulate.
