Kia Cadenza (K7) Image
  • Manufacturer: Kia

About the Cadenza (K7)

A full-size executive car, the Cadenza sold for over a decade between the years 2009 and 2021.

Created by the South Korean car manufacturer Kia, the Cadenza was brought out in an attempt to replace the Kia Opirus.

Sold in a number of countries such as the Middle East, Chile, Colombia, China, Canada, Northern America and, of course, South Korea, the Cadenza saw just two generations with the first of which was constructed as a front-wheel drive with 8 engines to choose from, petrol’s ranged from 2.4-liter to 3.5-liter and an LPG engine (liquefied petroleum gas) offered as a 2.- liter or a 3-liter V6.

There was just one transmission option, a 6-speed automatic, and its styling was predominantly attributed to Peter Schreyer, a former chief director of Audi and a designer who was also responsible for cars like the Audi A3, A4, A6 and TT, Volkswagen Eos, Volkswagen Golf, Kia Borrego, Rio, Picanto, Sorento, Soul, Sportage, Stronger, Hyundai Genesis and the Hyundai Tucson.

By 2017, Kia had introduced the second generation, and in addition to the 6-speed automatic gearbox, an 8-speed automatic had been added to the lineup, the latter came with a drive mode select system.

2019 saw an update with changes again made to the engine and new features were introduced such as a newly styled grille, hood, front and rear bumpers, wheel design and a new touchscreen infotainment system.

This vehicle can display a number of fault codes, some of which are:

  • P0456 – A generic code meaning the ECM has detected a small leak.
  • P0014 – The bank one of the exhaust camshaft is outside of the desired range.
  • P0024 – An over-advanced position timing of the camshaft has been detected.
  • P0420 – Poor efficiency performance from the catalyst system.
  • P0021 – The bank 2 intake camshaft is not performing properly, this is picked up by the ECM.
