About the Santa Cruz
The Hyundai Santa Cruz launched in 2021 and was designed as a pickup truck designed predominantly for the North American Market.
A concept version of the Santa Cruz was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in 2015 and when the marketing campaign began, Hyundai sold it as a Sport Adventure Vehicle.
Sharing the same production line with the Hyundai Tucson, the Santa Cruz had a near identical dash, front grille and daytime running lights.
Using front-wheel drive for its base model, the Santa Cruz can be upgraded to an all-wheel drive variant.
Just two engine options were available, both petrol, and both 2.5-liter with an 8-speed automatic transmission, or an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic which had paddle shifting gears.
For its first year, the United States saw over ten units ordered. All Santa Cruz models are manufactured at the Montgomery Assembly plant in Alhambra, USA and are built upon the Hyundai-Kia N3 with which is shared with the Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Staria, Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sportage, Kia Sorento, the Kia K8, Kia K5 and the Kia Carnival.
The Santa Cruz has some common fault codes, these can be:
- P0106 – An error code pointing to a problem with an incorrect output range regarding the MAP circuit.
- P0456 – A generic code, this fault code signals a small leak in the evaporative system.
- P0108 – This code can be triggered by a number of things and so it’s recommended that a mechanic be consulted; this points to a potential problem surrounding the manifold air pressure barometric pressure sensor circuit.
- P0501 – An out-of-range and abnormal voltage output from the vehicle speed sensor.
- P0320 – A circulation malfunction from the Ignition engine speed input.
