About the Tiguan
The Tiguan is a crossover SUV built by the German car manufacturer Volkswagen.
Sold onwards from 2007, the first generation was initially shown at the LA Auto Show and built upon the PQ46 Platform; a platform shared by the Skoda Superb, Volkswagen CC, VW Passat and the VW Sharan.
For the European market there were a number of different trim levels (region-specific) and for the United States customers could choose from the S, SE and SEL.
A number of premium features were installed as one would expect, such as semi-automatic climate control, electronic parking brake, child seat anchors, six airbags and a trailer stability program.
Following a brief facelift, Volkswagen released the second generation in 2016 which was built upon the new Volkswagen Group MQB A2 Platform.
For these new models, it was claimed that there was more internal space with rear passengers benefitting from extra legroom.
Available in two-wheelbase options, the short-wheelbase version could seat up to five passengers with the long-wheelbase capable of seating 7.
Volkswagen brought out a performance-based version called the Tiguan R which was released in conjunction with the facelift of 2020 and was powered by a 2-liter turbocharged engine producing 316 bhp (an engine that it shared with the VW Arteon R and the Mk8 Golf R.
