Volkswagen Taigo Image

About the Taigo

The Volkswagen Taigo first made its debut in 2020. Interestingly, the model was first revealed as the VW Nivus for the Latin American market.

This model represents the first VW to be developed in Brazil and sold in the European market. At present, these are the only two regions in which the Taigo is sold.

The 5-door subcompact crossover sits just below the T-Cross in the VW SUV lineup. It also shares the same MQB A0 platform as the aforementioned T-Cross and Polo. Similar models from outside the family include the Ford Puma, Nissan Juke, and Renault Captur.

In the few years that the Taigo has been available, fault code P0113 is the most commonly searched. This code indicates that there is a high voltage signal from the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor circuit.

Of course, when it comes to sensor issues the first step is usually checking the sensor itself. Volkswagen engines have the IAT sensor built into the mass airflow (MAF) sensor, which means this is the component that needs to be checked and perhaps replaced if faulty.

P0122 is another code that is fairly commonly reported for the Taigo. This code indicates that the throttle position sensor is sending a low signal to the onboard computer.

Again, when it comes to a sensor fault like this, checking the throttle position sensor and its circuit is the way to go about fixing the problem.

The Taigo also reportedly suffers from P0117, which represents an issue with the engine coolant temperature circuit.

Owners have reported that a faulty coolant temperature sensor is the most common culprit for this code.
