Nissan Juke Image

About the Juke

The Juke is a subcompact crossover sports utility vehicle manufactured and sold by the Japanese automaker Nissan.

Originally unveiled at the 2010 New York International Auto Show, the Juke was assembled at the Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK plant in Sunderland along with its larger sister, the Qashqai and the Leaf.

Designing also took place in the UK and was created upon the Nissan B Platform, which it shares with other cars like the Nissan Cube, Nissan Micra, Renault Captur, Renault Clio, Renault Clio III, Renault Modus, Renault Wind, Renault Zoe, Nissan Bluebird Sylphy, Nissan Livina, Nissan Note, Nissan NV200, Nissan Tilda and the Nissan Wingroad.

Jukes are very easy to spot, with abnormally high wheel arches and a tall waistline, Nissan took the classic coke bottle design and modernized it.

Sharing a similar design with Nissan’s first electric coupe (shown at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show), the Juke has large stacked headlights, the longest of which are placed on top of the front wings.

For the 2014 update, Nissan made changes to the front lights, making them more angular with a fork now splitting the two. There were five engine variations for the first generations, four patrols ranging from 1.5-liter to a 3.8-liter, and one 1.5-liter diesel, all could be mated to either a five or six-speed manual transmission, or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The usual fault codes that can show for this car are:

  • P0101 – An issue with the mass airflow sensor, this results in an engine performance problem.
  • P0087 – The fuel pressure is below the required range, this could ultimately lead to a lack of power upon acceleration.
  • P0171 – There is either too little fuel or too much oxygen which could mean that there is a vacuum leak.
  • P0014 – A generic code, this points to the fact that the exhaust camshaft is more advanced than the factory settings have commanded it to be.
  • P0456 – Signaling a very small leak in the evaporative system, this is a generic code and must fail twice before the ECM will register it.
