About the T-Roc
The Volkswagen T-Roc is a relatively new compact crossover SUV that VW has manufactured since 2017. There has only been one generation since its debut. It is the fourth SUV sold by VW in the European market.
It comes in two distinctly different configurations. The main model is a 5-door SUV layout. The other is a 2-door convertible, making it one of the only convertible SUVs on the market today.
The Cabriolet version is considered the successor to the VW Eos.
Both of these versions are built on the VW Group MQB A1 platform. This puts it between the smaller VW T-Cross and the bigger Tiguan. Drivetrains offered are either front-wheel drive or VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
Competition for the T-Roc includes the Audi Q2, Volvo XC40, and Peugeot 2008 among a number of others.
Trim levels include six different versions. These are the ACTIVE, Black Edition, Design, SEL, R-Line, and the high-performance R version. The Cabriolet version is offered in only two trims, the Design and R-Line.
VW has a large range of powertrains available, particularly the petrol versions. These include powertrains from the 1-liter TSI inline-3 through to the 2-liter TSI 300 inline-4 found in the R version. Other sizes include inline-4 engines of 1.2-liter, 1.4-liter, 1.5-liter, and a less powerful 2-liter.
Diesel options are either a 1.6-liter TDI inline-4 or a 2-liter TDI inline-4.
These are mated with either two manual transmissions or a single direct-shift gearbox. These are 5-speed, 6-speed, and 7-speed configurations respectively.
VW updated the styling of the T-Roc in 2021.
