About the Rapid
The Skoda Rapid is the name given to numerous small family car models created for sale by the Czech automaker.
Available as a sedan, liftback or hatchback, the Rapid first launched in 2012 following an unveiling at the Paris Motor Show.
Built upon the PQ25 Platform, the Rapid shares its underpinnings with the SEAT Ibiza, Volkswagen Polo, Audi A1 and Volkswagen Vento.
Trim levels included Active, Ambition and Elegance in some countries, and in others, like the United Kingdom, these were changed to S, SE and Elegance.
Designed by Skoda’s chief designer Jozef Kaban, the Rapid was intended to sit between the smaller Fabia and the third-generation Octavia.
2017 saw a facelift with changes made to the front end and headlights with the addition of assistance systems.
Following Euro NCAP tests, the Rapid did exceptionally well, achieving five out of five stars with 94% awarded to adult occupants and 80% for children safety.
Customers could choose between 4 petrol engines and just one diesel, sizes ranging from 1.2-liter to 1.6-liter, all of which could be coupled with a five or six-speed manual gearbox, a six-speed automatic or a 7 speed DSG (the initials given to Volkswagen type cars meaning dual-clutch transmission).

- P0299 – Only seen in vehicles built with a turbocharger or a supercharger, this code points to an underboost condition.
- P0336 – Pointing to an irregular voltage originating from the crankshaft position sensor.
- P0403 – A malfunction located in the engine exhaust gas recirculation circuit.
- U0155 – This fault code means that there is lost communication with the instrument panel cluster.
- U0140 – A communication error with the body control module.
