About the Modus
Built as a mini multi-purpose vehicle, the Modus launched in 2004 and was created by the French automaker, Renault.
Lasting just 8 years, the Modus offered 4 petrol engines and just one diesel.
With five doors, the Modus appealed to families and to better suit their requirements, Renault built the seats on sliding rails.
To add more space, the front passenger seat could be flipped forward to reveal a storage compartment.
In addition to this, the Modus had the unique ‘boot chute,’ this little feature allowed for items to be added to the rear of the vehicle without having to open the tailgate fully.
An updated version rolled out in 2007, here Renault added color-coded bumpers, an updated interior trim and restyled door moldings.
The Modus holds an impressive accolade, it was the first ever small car to receive the full 5 stars following Euro NCAP testing.
This was achieved by the use of 6 airbags, impact bars and child seat fixing points.
Using the Nissan B Platform, the Modus shares its underpinnings with the Nissan Cube, Nissan Micra, Renault Captur, Renault Clio III, Renault Clio IV, Renault Wind, Renault Zoe, Nissan Bluebird Sylphy, Nissan Livinia, Nissan Note, Nissan NV200, Nissan Tilda, Nissan Wingroad and the Nissan Juke.
Some Modus’ can display the following codes:
- P0300 – This fault code points to a misfiring cylinder, this can happen when there isn’t enough fuel being burned or when the spark plug is damaged.

- P0638 – A code that could mean a number of things, a mechanic must be consulted in order to determine the cause (throttle actuator control range in bank one).
