OBD2 Port Location

Looking for the plug-in point for your OBD2 code reader in the Peugeot 307?

Strangely, the OBD2 port on the 307 can be in one of two places.

The first place to check is under the ashtray in the center part of the dashboard. There is a panel (as shown in the photo – with a yellow arrow pointing at it) that can be pulled away easily. Underneath that there may be a port to plug your ODB2 fault code scanner into.

Falling that, you may find the port located next to the steering wheel to the right of it. The panel should pull away easily at the top – exposing the port for your to plug your reader into.

About the 307

The 307 from Peugeot was a short-lived small family car produced and sold all over the world.

It began production in 2001 when it was sold both across Europe and China as a hatchback primarily but also available as a saloon, estate or coupé cabriolet.

To create this new car Peugeot took the tried and tested 306 platform that was also at work under the Citroen Xsara.

This new PSA PF2 was also used on the 3008 and the Citroen C4 and C4 Picasso.

In 2004 the car made an appearance in Argentina where it ended up selling long after it finished in Europe in 2008.

It was replaced by the French automaker with the newer 308 and 408 lines.

The most common fault code searched for by mechanics working on the Peugeot 307 is p0170.

This generic fault code is triggered when the onboard computer detects a problem with the fuel trim system.

Broken down, the fuel trim system is where the air-fuel mixture levels are controlled. Too much fuel or air can lead to problems in the engine and possible damage if left unfixed.

The second most common fault code reported for this 307 model is p0106.

This is closely related to the p0170 code mentioned above and it concerns a problem with the manifold air pressure.

After the fuel and air mixture has been combined it flows along this manifold at low pressure before being injected into the engine.

Then the third most common fault code we see reported for the Peugeot 307 is the p1327.

This is a manufacturer-specific fault code that typically relates to the knock sensor.

A knock sensor is as simple as it sounds – it detects a knocking within the engine that would suggest something is not in sync with the rest of the engine.

This is usually down to a faulty sensor cut could also be related to the two previous faults and actually be caused by a problem with the fuel/air mixture being too rich or too lean.
