Opel/Vauxhall Zafira Image

About the Zafira

The Zafira was first released in 1999 and remained on the market for the following two decades. During this time, three generations were released, with the third and final making its debut in 2011.

The model was given its name after the Arabic word for ‘succeed.’ However, this was updated with the final generation to become the Zafira Tourer, indicating the model’s multipurpose capabilities.

Some of the model’s rivals include the Volkswagen Touran, Ford C-Max and Grand C-Max, and the Peugeot 5008.

During its time on the market, Zafira owners encountered a few fairly common fault codes. Most of these relate to a number of important sensors found throughout the vehicle.

The most common of these is P0400, which represents an issue with the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) flow.

Owners have reported that one of the most common causes for this is a dirty or faulty EGR valve and sensor. These can typically be replaced fairly easily.

Similarly, fault code P0068 is another common code. This code represents an issue with the signals from the MAP or MAF sensors and the throttle position sensor.

Again, checking the sensors is typically the fastest way to solve these issues. They can quite easily get clogged with carbon buildup, which would require a simple cleaning. They can sometimes need replacing, though.

Fault code P0134 represents a malfunction from one of the oxygen sensors. Because the code indicates that there is no signal from the sensor, owners have found success in replacing the faulty sensor or fixing wiring and other electrical issues within the sensor’s circuit.
