About the Insignia
The large family Insignia was first released in 2008. Since then, there have been only two generations to hit the markets. The second and final generation made its debut in 2017.
Opel/Vauxhall announced the decision to phase out the model at the end of 2022. Like many other automakers, the decision was based on the desire to focus more on electric vehicles.
Competition for the model comes from only a few cars that still offer large family cars. The most notable of these include the Volkswagen Passat, Skoda Octavia, and Peugeot 508.
Like all cars, the Insignia has suffered its fair share of fault codes over the years. The most commonly reported of these is P0087, which indicates a low-pressure condition from the fuel injection system.
Owners have reported that a faulty high-pressure fuel pump as one of the main culprits when it comes to this fault code. That said, it is important to check both the fuel filter and the various fuel injectors to ensure they are clean and functioning properly.
Some models of the Insignia were fitted with turbocharger systems to provide increased performance. This has brought up the next most common fault code, P0234. This code indicates an overboost condition from the turbocharger.
When it comes to fault codes like this, an obvious cause can be a faulty turbocharger. However, owners have found that a dirty or defective MAP sensor can also cause the issue. This can also be a significantly less expensive fix.
Similarly, underboost conditions like P0299 are also relatively common for the model. This can also be caused by dirty sensors.
