About the Pulsar
The Pulsar was initially a subcompact car that had two distinct releases, the first launched in 1978 – 2005; then following an 8-year hiatus, reappeared on the market as a compact car in 2013 with Nissan discontinuing the model in 2018.
The first generations carried the codename N10 and N11 and replaced the aging Nissan Cherry F-II (a project aided by the engineering efforts of the Prince Motor Company).
There were a great number of configurations, a 3-door hatchback, 3-door liftback coupe, 3-door panel van, 4-door fastback sedan, 5-door hatchback and finally a 5-door station wagon.
Outside of Japan, the options were limited depending upon the native requirements and by 1982, many of the options were dropped completely.
Built in various Nissan factories in Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Italy, the updated Pulsars ranged from a petrol 988 cc engine size right up to 1680 cc diesel.
When Nissan decided to relaunch the Pulsar in 2013, they did so upon the CMF Platform, a platform that was also shared with the Nissan Townstar, Mercedes-Benz Citan, Kangoo e-Tech, Renault Kangoo III, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Qashqai, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Sentra, Renault Scenic, Renault Koleos, Renault Megane, Renault Talisman, Renault Kadjar, Renault Espace and the Renault Austral.
