About the Rondo
The Rondo recently entered its third decade on the market, being first released in 1999. Since its initial release, there have been four generations. The fourth and latest of these made its debut in 2022.
The model has also been sold under the name of Carens in certain markets.
The compact MPV has faced competition from a number of other offerings over the years. The most notable of these have included the Honda Fit, Mazda5, Nissan Sentra, and even Kia’s own Sportage.
One problem that a number of both Kia and Hyundai models have suffered is P0011, which happens to be the most commonly reported issue for the Rondo. This code indicates that the intake camshaft is too far ahead in its timing and that the PCM cannot fix it.
This can be a very serious problem that should be addressed immediately.
One of the most common causes of this issue is neglecting the engine oil when performing scheduled maintenance. However, other issues like a faulty timing chain can also lead to this issue.
Another fairly common problem for the Rondo is P0441, which represents an issue with the evaporative emissions control (EVAP) system purge flow.
As the description suggests, it is likely caused by a faulty purge valve. However, problems with the various other components in the EVAP system like the charcoal canister can also be the cause.
Another EVAP issue that the Rondo is known to suffer is P0456, which is logged when the onboard computer detects a small leak in the system.
Thankfully, the most common cause for this issue is leaving the gas cap loose. It is also possible that there is a small leak coming from a faulty or damaged component in the system.
