About the CT6
The CT6 entered the market as the successor to the Cadillac Fleetwood in 2016. The model was only given a single generation before it was replaced by the Cadillac Celestiq in 2020.
While on the market, it represented the largest of the sedan offerings from the American carmaker, above both the CT4 and CT5.
Despite only having a single generation, it did have two notable variants – the CT6-V and CT6-V Blackwing. Both of these were high-performance sports sedans.
The most notable competition for the model came from the Acura RLX, Audi A8, BMW 7-Series, and Mercedes-Benz S Class.
One of the most common issues that CT6 owners faced is fault code P0700. This code indicates that there is a general problem with the transmission control system, which means that only models fitted with an automatic transmission can suffer this code.
In most cases, the code requires a more advanced code scanner to determine the source of the issue. Be sure to first address additional codes that relate to the transmission.
The next most common code is P0128. This code means that the engine coolant is not reaching its operational temperature quickly enough.
This code is so common that Cadillac had to acknowledge it and issue a technical service bulletin (TSB) for it. Unlike most P0128 codes, this was caused by an engine control unit issue, which could be fixed by reprogramming the control unit.
Another common fault code is P0106, which is logged when the MAP sensor is sending a signal that is outside of its allowable range.
Cadillac issued another TSB for this and a number of codes for a joint TSB. It is recommended that owners of models manufactured between 2016 and 2017 inspect their intake manifold bolts for looseness.
