About the Enclave
The Enclave joined the Buick lineup in 2007 as a large crossover SUV. Since its release, there have been only two generations to hit the markets. The second and latest iteration made its debut in 2018.
The model took inspiration from the Buick Centieme concept that was unveiled in 2003. Upon its release, it replaced a number of Buick offerings in the American carmakers SUV lineup.
Competition typically comes from other large three-row SUVs in the North American market. The most notable of these include the Kia Telluride, Chevrolet Traverse, and Acura MDX.
The most commonly reported issue that the Enclave has faced is P0496. This code indicates that there is flow detected from the EVAP system purge control valve during a non-purge condition.
In most cases, this will be the result of a faulty purge control valve. Owners have reported that replacing this part is one of the best solutions for this problem.
Another common issue that the Enclave is known for is P0017, which indicates that there is an issue with the timing between the crankshaft position and the exhaust camshaft position.
Two of the first things to check when it comes to this issue are the crankshaft and exhaust camshaft position sensors. If either of these are faulty, they can cause this code to be logged without a real timing issue present. Issues with the oil supply can also cause this if there is a timing issue present.
Fault code P0442 is an EVAP system issue that Enclave owners have faced. This code is logged when a leak is detected coming from the system.
In many cases, a loose or defective fuel cap is the culprit. However, failing components can also be the cause of this issue.
