About the SRX
The SRX first made its debut in 2003. It remained on the market for 13 years after this release date and saw a total of two generations hit the market.
The midsize crossover SUV would eventually become the best-selling Cadillac offering in its second and final generation. Despite being so popular, it was replaced by the XT5 to realign the latest Cadillac models.
Competition for the SUV typically came from the likes of the Acura RDX, Volvo XC60, and Lexus RX350.
The SRX was prone to a very serious problem in fault code P0017. This code indicates that there is a correlation issue between the signals from the exhaust camshaft position sensor and the crankshaft position sensor.
A faulty timing chain is often the cause of this issue. However, it is also very likely that one or both of these position sensors are faulty and need to be replaced.
Similarly, fault code P0014 is another common issue for the model. This code is logged when the powertrain control module cannot fix an over-advanced exhaust camshaft.
If these codes are logged together, it is likely that the exhaust camshaft position sensor or its circuit is faulty and is causing both issues.
Another common issue for the SRX is fault code P0420. This code indicates that the catalytic converter in the first bank of the exhaust is not functioning properly.
One of the most common causes of this code is simple wear over time. These components need to be replaced between roughly every 70,000 and 100,000 miles. That being said, it is also possible that there are exhaust leaks or failing oxygen sensors that are contributing to this issue.
