Detailed Manufacturer-Specific Explanations

Audi – SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM SHORT TO B+

For Audi, fault code P1450 is logged when the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an issue with the secondary air injection system.

This code indicates that there is a short circuit within the secondary air injection system circuit.

The secondary air injection system is used to pump ambient air into the vehicle’s exhaust system. This is done to reduce the number of unburnt hydrocarbons that are able to leave the vehicle.

The main purpose of these systems is to aid the reduction of emissions while the catalytic converter reaches operational temperatures. This means that these systems are found in almost every vehicle with a catalytic converter.

BMW – DIAGNOSTIC MODULE TANK LEAKAGE (DM-TL) SWITCHING SOLENOID OPEN CIRCUIT

For BMW, fault code P1450 is logged when the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an issue with the diagnostic module tank leakage (DMTL) switching solenoid circuit.

This happens when the PCM detects an open circuit in the DM-TL system.

This system is used to detect the presence of any leaks in the fuel system. This is done to help control the emission levels of the vehicle to comply with emission regulations.

It shares a number of similarities with other EVAP systems found in other vehicles.

An electrical issue with the switching solenoid means the system will not be able to function properly. This means the PCM will be unable to perform a leak test, potentially missing any leaks in the fuel tank.

Ford – INABILITY OF EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM TO BLEED FUEL TANK

For Ford, fault code P1450 is logged when the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a problem with the evaporative emissions control (EVAP) system.

This happens when the PCM detects an excessive vacuum in the fuel tank or EVAP and it is unable to remove it properly.

The EVAP system is responsible for preventing fuel vapors from leaving the vehicle into the surrounding atmosphere. This is done to comply with emission regulations.

This fault code can result in the PCM losing control of the EVAP system, causing emission levels to become excessive.

Kia – UNABLE TO BLEED UP FUEL TANK VACUUM

Interestingly, fault code P1450 represents the same issue for Kia and Ford. For more information on the problem and similar generic fault codes, please see the above description for Ford.

See generic codes: There is no similar generic fault code for this issue.

Chrysler – EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM FAULT

Despite having a different description, fault code P1450 represents the same issue for Chrysler and Ford. For more information on the problem and similar generic fault codes, please see the above description for Ford.

See similar generic fault code: There is no similar generic fault code for this issue.

Volkswagen – SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM CIRCUIT SHORT TO POSITIVE

For Audi and Volkswagen, fault code p1450 represents the same issue. For more information on the problem and similar generic fault codes, please see the above description for Audi.
