About the 300
The Chrysler 300 is a luxury full-size offering from the American manufacturer. It first debuted in 2005 with the LX model, which was discontinued in 2010.
Chrysler brought the model back with the second-generation LD version in 2011.
The main difference between the LX and LD models is that the second generation was limited to only a sedan variant, while the first also had a station wagon layout.
Chrysler released a host of different versions. These trim options consist of the Base, Touring, Limited, 300C, SRT-8, and finally SRT. The last of these represents high-performance versions.
Chrysler released this model to compete with some other big names in the luxury sedan class. The most notable of these are the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Lexus ES, and Mercedes C-Class.
Stellantis announced its plans to discontinue the 300 and that the 2023 model will be its final year of production.
The most common fault code associated with the 300 is P0128, which represents an issue with the coolant thermostat temperature.
When the coolant temperature sensor detects a low temperature, it signals to the powertrain control module that the cooling system may not be operating properly, particularly the thermostat system.

The next most popular fault code for the Chrylser 300 is P0456, which is logged when the onboard computer detects a potential small leak in the evaporative emissions control system (EVAP).
Problems with the EVAP system are notoriously hard to detect. The fact that this represents a small leak makes it even harder.
It is important to be thorough when it comes to looking for a leak in the system. Some mechanics will use a specialized diagnostic tool called a ‘smoke machine’ to help pinpoint any leaks.
The gas cap on a Chrysler 300 can occasionally come loose, which can cause this code. Be sure to check this first.
