Chrysler – EEPROM INTEGRITY FAILURE
For Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep, fault code P1718 is logged when the powertrain control module has detected an issue with the electrically erasable programable read-only memory (EEPROM) system.
The EEPROM chip is a part of the new generation of onboard diagnostic tools. These chips are used for the programming of the fault code system.
This problem occurs when the PCM has detected an internal error with the EEPROM chip.
Most of the causes for this issue are related to the programming of the EEPROM chip and the PCM. Additionally, a faulty EEPROM chip can be the cause of this problem.
Unfortunately, there are no generic fault codes that are similar to this issue, apart from P062F.

Dodge – EEPROM INTEGRITY FAILURE
For Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep, fault code P1718 represents the same issue as Ford. For more information on the problem and similar generic fault codes, please see the above description for Chrysler.

Ford – TFT SENSOR IN RANGE FAILURE HIGH
For Ford, fault code P1718 is logged when the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an issue with the transmission fluid temperature (TFT) sensor.
This happens when the signal from the TFT sensor is outside of the allowable limit.
The TFT sensor is responsible for continuously monitoring the temperature of the transmission. This is done to allow the PCM can intervene before the transmission overheats, which indicates it will damage the various components within.
An excessively high signal from the TFT sensor can indicate that the transmission is overheating. It can be caused by electrical issues within the TFT sensor circuit.
This can also be caused by low transmission fluid levels caused by a leak. Additionally, a faulty TFT sensor can be one of the most common causes.

Citroën/Peugeot – TFT SENSOR IN RANGE FAILURE HIGH
For both Citroën and Peugeot, fault code P1718 represents the same issue as Ford. For more information on the problem and similar generic fault codes, please see the above description for Ford.

Jeep – EEPROM INTEGRITY FAILURE
For Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep, fault code P1718 represents the same issue as Ford. For more information on the problem and similar generic fault codes, please see the above description for Chrysler.

Mazda – TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT
For Mazda, fault code P1718 is logged when the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an issue with the transmission fluid temperature (TFT) sensor circuit.
This happens when the PCM has detected a malfunction within the TFT sensor circuit.
The TFT sensor is responsible for continuously monitoring the temperature of the transmission. This is done to allow the PCM can intervene before the transmission overheats, which indicates it will damage the various components within.
The most common causes for this issue will be found within the TFT sensor circuit. These can include damaged wiring, loose connections, or a faulty TFT sensor.
