About the C-HR
Assembled in numerous plants worldwide, the C-HR is a subcompact crossover Sports Utility Vehicle manufactured by the Japanese auto manufacturer Toyota.
Although not confirmed, speculation around the moniker’s meaning grew with some articles suggesting it stood for Compact High Rider, or Cross Hatch Run-about and even Coupe High Rider.
Exclusively built as a 5-door SUV, models could be purchased as either a front-wheel drive or a four-wheel drive, also available in a combination of petrol, plug-in, battery or hybrid engines.
Different markets had different powertrain offerings, for example, in North America, the C-HR has the larger 2-liter petrol engine and only the higher trim levels, XLE or XLE Premium are sold.
October 2019 saw in a new facelift with the addition of the new 2-liter M20A-FXS hybrid engine.
Android Auto and Apple Car Play were rolled out across all trim levels, and, following the ASEAN NCAP tests, the C-HR achieved an impressively high score of 35.80 out of 36.00 for adult safety, 40.89 out of 49.00 for children and a complete overall five stars.
Toyota uses the TNGA-C Platform under this model, which is also shared with the Lexus UX, Toyota Prius, Suzuki Landy, Toyota Voxy, Toyota Noah, Toyota IZOA, Toyota Frontlander, Toyota Corolla Cross, Suzuki Swace, Toyota GR Corolla, Toyota Levin and the Toyota Auris.
