About the 5008
The 5008 first made its debut as a mid-size MPV in 2009. Upon the release of the second generation in 2017, the model was shifted into the compact SUV class. This represents the latest iteration of the model.
The change in class was a result of the surging popularity of the SUV class, along with the decrease in sales of MPVs across the board.
Of course, the two models have faced different competition. However, the second version currently goes up against the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq, SEAT Tarraco, and Land Rover Discovery Sport.
The first fault code that commonly pops up for the 5008 is P0299, which represents an underboost condition from the turbocharger. Unlike some other vehicles, every engine configuration of the 5008 has been outfitted with a turbocharger, making this code possible for all variants.
This code can be caused by a number of issues in the forced induction system, but a faulty turbocharger is one of the most common culprits.
Another serious and common issue that the 5008 is known to suffer from is P0087. This code is logged when the fuel pressure is too low for the fuel rail, which can lead to some significant performance issues.
Owners have reported that the 5008, particularly with the 2.0 HDi engine, is known for suffering from fuel pressure sensor issues like loose connections.
In addition to this, fault code P0271 represents a problem with the fuel injector for the fourth cylinder. If by chance both of these codes are logged, or any other fuel injector issues, it is a good idea to fix the upstream problems before tackling any of the fuel injector issues. Again, the fuel pressure sensor should be checked.
