About the Seltos
The Seltos was released by Kia only a few years ago in 2019. There has only been a single version to be released since its debut.
For the global market, it was given the internal designation of SP2. Interestingly, there is another version called the SP2i, which was given to models manufactured in India and exported to newly emerging markets. Despite being the same Seltos, the version produced in India is actually a slightly smaller car.
Another key difference between the two versions is that unlike the original SP2 model, the SP2i is not offered in all-wheel drive at all.
The subcompact crossover sits near the smaller end of Kia’s SUV lineup, sitting above the Stonic, Soul, or Sonet, and the larger Sportage.
Because the Seltos is a new vehicle, there are a lot of onboard computers that help maintain everything. Unfortunately, this can be a downside with newer vehicles. One of the most commonly reported issues for the Seltos is P0601, which is a problem with the internal control module.
These types of issues are not only very problematic but they can be exceptionally hard to fix without professional help.
To make matters worse for Seltos owners, this can leave the SUV struggling to start or stay running. For some models, the code has been reported to have no symptoms at all though.
Either way, it is strongly recommended to have any issues with the onboard computers addressed as soon as possible.
Another fairly common and serious code is P0480. This code indicates that there is an issue with the cooling fan control circuit. This can also be seen in a number of Hyundai cars that share the same affected components.
One of the most common causes for these brands is a faulty fan control module, which can unfortunately be an expensive fix.
