About the Yaris
A supermini, the Yaris is a vehicle created by the Japanese car company Toyota and sold onwards from 1999.
Taking its name from the Greek Goddess of beauty, Charis, Toyota mashed this with a ‘Y’ standing for ‘Ya!’ which means yeah in German.
Still in production today, the Yaris has proved very popular over its time with a number of body configurations on offer; a 3/5 door hatchback, a 4-door sedan and a 2-door coupe.
The first generations lasted for 6 years under the name Yaris or Echo, depending upon the market.
Hatchback and saloon variants were available throughout the generations up until the fourth and most recent models.
Released in both Japan and Amsterdam for its launch, the new Yaris was now constructed upon the GA-B Platform, a platform that it shares with the Toyota Aqua, Toyota Aygo, Toyota Sienta, Toyota GR Yaris, Mazda 2 Hybrid and the Toyota Yaris Cross.
Stylistically, the new Yaris has an enormous front grille and offers either three or five doors.
Following the warning light showing on the dashboard, it could signify a number of issues, some of the following codes are common for the Yaris:
- P0441 – An error code signifying that the ECU has found a problem with the purge valve.
- P0505 – The internal computer is incapable of controlling the idle speed. A normal idle speed is between 650 and 750 rpm.
- P0011 – Showing that the bank 1 intake camshaft is further on than it should be.
- P0010 – A variation in mechanical timing found between the bank one camshaft and the crankshaft.
- P0101 – Poor performance from the mass air flow circuit. Driving when this fault is occurring can be extremely damaging to the engine, it is advised to stop driving immediately.
