Buick Rendezvous Image

About the Rendezvous

The Buick Rendezvous and its infamous corporate cousin, the Pontiac Aztek, were the first entries by General Motors into the crossover SUV class. Both of these models were released in 2002.

They remained on the market for only a single generation, which spanned five years. Its retirement in 2007 came as the result of fairly poor sales, which was in large part due to its controversial styling.

Competition mostly came from its cousin from Pontiac, but models like the Buick Enclave, and Pontiac Torrent eventually became its main contenders.

One of the most common problems that the model faced is P0455, which is fairly common to a lot of GM cars. This code means that there is a leak coming from the evaporative emissions control (EVAP) system.

In most cases, this code is caused by a faulty or loose gas cap. However, there can be plenty of other issues within the system that are allowing the fumes to escape.

Another EVAP code that was fairly common is P0446. This code indicates that there is a malfunction with the vent control circuit.

If both of these codes are logged together, it is likely that the latter code is causing the former. This means it is important to address other EVAP-related codes before tackling P0455.

Fault code P0171 is also a fairly commonly reported code for the Rendezvous. This code indicates that the engine is running too lean.

This is most often caused by a leak in the intake manifold. Similar to the previous codes, if there are any other codes that relate to the air-fuel mixture, it is very important to address them in efforts to solve this code.
