P1437 Fault Code

Audi – EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE/SOLENOID BANK 2 – SHORT TO POSITIVE

For both Audi and Volkswagen, fault code P1437 is logged when the powertrain control module has detected an issue with the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve or solenoid in bank 2.

The description of the problem informs that there is a short circuit present in this control valve/solenoid circuit.

This means the cause of this issue will likely be found within the circuit itself. This can be a result of improper or damaged wiring or loose connections to the solenoid or valve.

This valve/solenoid is responsible for regulating the flow of exhaust gases back to the engine.

The EGR system is responsible for reducing the number of nitrogen oxides (NOx) produced by an internal combustion engine that can escape into the atmosphere through the exhaust system.

The combustion process does not convert all of the reactants in the air-fuel mixture to safe products like carbon dioxide and water. Recirculating them in small doses allows the engine to break down the compounds further.

This is done to comply with emission regulations.

Citroën – A/C EVAPORATOR AIR TEMPERATURE CIRCUIT HIGH

For Citroen and Peugeot, fault code P1437 is logged when the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an issue with the air conditioning evaporator air temperature circuit.

This code indicates that a high voltage in the circuit has been detected.

The evaporator is a small radiator that is essential to the air conditioning system in a vehicle. It is a heat exchanger that absorbs warmth from ambient air, cooling it to the desired temperature inside the vehicle.

By exchanging energy between the refrigerant within the evaporator and the warmer air passing over the evaporator fins, the air is cooled.

An electrical problem like this with the evaporator can cause the air conditioning system to malfunction. This is because the control module is unable to determine or control the temperature of the evaporator.

The most likely cause of this problem is a faulty evaporator temperature sensor. It is also possible that there is a fault within the sensor circuit. Additionally, it can be caused by refrigerant levels being too low.
