Detailed Manufacturer-Specific Explanations

Audi – LOAD SIGNAL FROM A/C COMPRESSOR RANGE/PERFORMANCE

For both Audi and Volkswagen, fault code P1566 is a manufacturer-specific code that is logged when the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an issue with the signal from the A/C compressor.

This code indicates that there is likely a malfunction with the compressor in the air conditioning system.

A problem like this will usually cause the A/C to perform poorly. This can include the air being less cool than desired, as well as blowing with less power. In some cases, the A/C system will not work at all.

One of the most likely causes for this type of issue is a failing A/C compressor. Electrical faults in the compressor circuit can also cause this problem.

Not all manufacturers deemed it necessary for the A/C system to have its own set of fault codes. This means it can be hard finding extra information from generic fault codes for P1566.

Hyundai – SPEED CONTROL COMMAND SWITCH OUT OF RANGE LOW

For both Hyundai and Kia, fault code P1566 is a manufacturer-specific fault code that is logged when the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an issue with the cruise control main or command switch circuit.

Cruise control is a fairly modern system that allows the car to maintain a speed selected by the driver without driver input thereafter.

The cruise control main or command switch is found in the circuit and allows the driver to control the various functions of the system.

This code can be fairly problematic for drivers who favor the cruise control system as it can cause the system to malfunction and in some cases be unavailable at all.

The most likely culprit for this code will be found within the cruise control main switch circuit. These electrical issues can include a faulty switch, damaged wires, or loose connections in the wiring harness.
