BMW – Misfire During Start Cylinder 6

For BMW, fault code P1352 is logged when the powertrain control module has detected a misfire in cylinder 6 during the start-up of the engine.

There are several reasons why a cylinder may misfire. The result is the misfiring cylinder is not producing sufficient power to operate properly. If a cylinder does not have enough fuel, air, or heat, a misfire can occur.

A misfire will typically have noticeable detrimental effects in terms of driveability.

It is very likely that this code will come with additional codes that can help pinpoint the cause of the issue. Be sure to look out for codes relating to the air intake, fuel system, and ignition system.

Unfortunately, the cause of a misfire can be tough to pinpoint with just this code alone as almost all upstream systems that contribute to the combustion process can be at fault.

Ford – Ignition Coil A – Primary Circuit Fault

For Ford and various other American manufacturers, fault code P1352 is logged when the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an issue with the ignition coil A or 1.

Ignition coils, also called spark coils, are part of the system that provides heat to the combustion process in a petrol engine. This is one of the three prerequisites for combustion, the other being air, and a fuel source.

This code can only be logged with Ford vehicles that have petrol engines.

These systems work alongside other components like spark plugs to convert a low voltage from the car battery into a high voltage spark that can ignite the air-fuel mixture in the various cylinders.

The primary circuit within the ignition coil consists of the primary windings found in the coil itself, the revolutions per minute sensor, and the PCM.

Faults in the ignition coils can lead to misfires and even stalling in some cases. It will likely decrease the fuel economy of the vehicle as well.

Chrysler – Ignition Coil A – Primary Circuit

For Chrysler and various other American manufacturers, fault code P1352 is logged when the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an issue with the ignition coil A or 1.

Ignition coils, also called spark coils, are part of the system that provides heat to the combustion process in a petrol engine. This is one of the three prerequisites for combustion, the other being air, and a fuel source.

This also means that this code is limited to Chrysler vehicles with petrol engines.
