Description Icon Long Description

Fault code P0532 is logged when the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a malfunction in the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor A circuit.

This occurs when the pressure within the system is determined to be too low.

A/C refrigerant pressure sensors are found in the refrigerant lines and they monitor the pressure within the system and send them back to the PCM. This is done to ensure the A/C system is operating properly within the allowed pressure range.

A/C systems are notoriously difficult to work with, making DIY fixing problematic typically. This is especially true for modern vehicles.

Audi, Honda, and Hyundai are some of the most commonly associated when it comes to this fault code.

Warnings Icon Other Signs of This Problem

The signs for this issue can be somewhat noticeable, especially when it comes to the usage of the air conditioning inside the vehicle.

One of the most noticeable signs is that the Check Engine light will be illuminated, even for a relatively mild issue like this.

The other signs of this issue will be a result of poor performance of the A/C.

These can be things like erratic fan air temperature, A/C compressor issues, and inaccurate A/C temperatures.

There may be other fault codes logged that indicate an issue with the A/C system. These can be codes like P0530, P0531, and P0534.

Broken Down Icon What Could Be The Problem?

The causes for this type of issue are likely found within the A/C system or within the pressure sensor A circuit.

Any leaks in the A/C system can cause a loss in pressure, leading to this fault code being logged.

A faulty A/C refrigerant pressure sensor can also result in this issue being logged as it is sending inaccurate, low-pressure signals to the PCM.

Additionally, any faults in the pressure sensor circuit can also lead to this fault code. These can be issues like damaged writing or loose connections.

Another potential cause is low refrigerant in the system, causing incorrect pressure.

Fixed Icon Fixes

Fixes will either involve making repairs in the refrigerant system or the pressure sensor circuit itself. This can mean this fault requires both electrical and mechanical skills.

Working with the HVAC system of a vehicle typically requires professional expertise.

One of the easiest fixes is to check the refrigerant level. If it is too low, it needs to be topped up accordingly. It is important to add refrigerant only if it is not too low as too much refrigerant can also cause various issues.

Another relatively simple fix is to check the pressure sensor circuit. If there are damaged wires or loose connections, these need to be fixed. Additionally, if the sensor itself is defective, it must be replaced.

Any leaks in the A/C system need to be fixed to allow pressure to build accordingly.

Danger Icon Seriousness

Fault code P0532 is considered low in terms of seriousness. It does not affect the driveability of the vehicle, despite making it somewhat less comfortable to drive in.

In certain climates that are very hot or cold, this issue certainly becomes more of a problem.

It is best to have this problem fixed as soon as you feel it is necessary.
