Long Description

Fault code B1352 is logged when the body control module (BCM) has detected a malfunction with the ignition key circuit. This code is logged when the key is inserted and one of the relevant circuits fails.

These systems are specific to when the key is only inserted in the ignition, prior to starting the vehicle.

This is a manufacturer-specific code, meaning only certain brands will be able to log this fault code. This code specifically is used most often by Jaguar and Ford.

Other Signs of This Problem

There can be some noticeable symptoms when it comes to this type of fault code. These are all related to the ignition system of the car.

The presence of the Check Engine light on the dashboard.is typically the most common sign for fault codes, but this code will often not present it. There is another very noticeable symptom though. This code can cause the vehicle to not crank at all.

There may also be similar fault codes logged that can help pinpoint the problem. Codes like B2961 and B2965 are some of the most relevant codes to look out for.

What Could Be The Problem?

It can be fairly difficult to pinpoint the cause of the issue, but it will typically be found within the key or ignition system.

What causes the vehicle to not crank is that the BCM does not see that there is a key in the ignition, despite having the request signal to the starter.

This can be caused by a short or open circuit in the ignition key-in circuit. This can be caused by electrical faults within the circuit wiring and connections or the key itself.

One important circuit to check is the one for the door chimes. An electrical issue like loose wires or damaged connections in this circuit can cause this fault code as it is a part of the key-in ignition circuit. These circuits are notorious for having electrical issues for Ford and Jaguar.

A defective door chime component can also cause this problem.

In rare cases, a defective powertrain control module (PCM) or BCM can also cause. However, this will very likely cause numerous other fault codes to be logged like U0100 or U0115.
